NBC Sports On Her Turf sits down with reigning 100m and 200m world champion Melissa Jefferson-Wooden to talk about her journey to becoming the fastest woman in the world and the power she draws from her "village."
Melissa, a Georgetown County native, and Coastal Carolina University alum, is the only US woman ever
to win the 100 (10.61 MR), 200m (21.68), and 4x100m Relay at the same World Championship.

The 2026 Track & Field Fall Development Series is brought to you by Myrtle Beach Sports. Our goals are to: Introduce youth to the sport of track & field; Provide current track & field athletes an out-of-season opportunity; Create awareness of opportunities provided by City of Myrtle Beach Recreation, the Myrtle Beach Track & Field Club and the Spring Break Meets.
WHEN: 9am Saturday September 26th Session #1 (Sprint/Hurdles), 9am Saturday October 24th Session #2 Field Events
WHERE: Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium (705 33rd Ave North, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577)
WHO: Youth ages 6-18, all experience levels welcome, no experience necessary.
COST: $15/Session. Includes a t-shirt if pre-registered by 12pm Friday September 18th for Session #1 or 12pm Friday October 16th for Session #2. Participants will only receive 1 shirt if they register for both sessions.
WHAT TO BRING: Personal water bottle, sun screen, athletic apparel, closed toe athletic/running shoes, event specific spikes if you have them (not required), and lots of energy.
WHAT TO EXPECT: Participants will be grouped by age and/or experience level. Groups will rotate through each of the event specific areas where they will be instructed by an experienced high school, college or club coach. Instruction will focus on introducing the sport, introducing the skills required, and the opportunity to practice the skills and receive feedback. Each Saturday will begin with a group warm-up and stretch and conclude with a group talk and cool-down. Each Saturday session will conclude between 12:00-12:30pm.
