Hyleas Fountain-Vaught - 2008 Olympic silver medalist in thE Heptathlon worked with participants in the Long/Triple/High Jump events and sprints/hurdles.
Alina McDonald - 2022 NACAC Gold Medalist, 2023 USATF Silver Medalist Pole Vault, personal best 4.65m (15' 3") worked with participants in the PolE Vault.
Jim Sprecher Jr. - University of lynchburg director of tf/xc, coached 18 ODAC championhsip teams, and 25 NCAA All-americans, worked with participants in sprints, hurdles and relays.
Chris Courson - Head TF/XC Coach conway HS, school record holder at UNCW in 4x200m and 4x400m, worked with participants in sprints and hurdles.
Ryan Minor - 2012 Big South Hammer Champion (Coastal Carolina University) worked with participants in the shot put, discus and hammer.
Cami stovall - Throws coach at University of Lynchburg, USATF Level 3 certified worked with participants in the javelin throw and discus.
chirs stovall - jumps coach at unviersity of lynchburg worked with participants in the LONG/TRIPLE/HIGH JUMP EVENTS.
The 2024 Track & Field Fall Development Series is brought to you by Myrtle Beach Sports. Our goals are to: Introduce youth to the sport of track & field; Provide current track & field athletes an out-of-season opportunity; Create awareness of opportunities provided by City of Myrtle Beach Recreation, the Myrtle Beach Track & Field Club and the Spring Break Meets.
WHEN: 9am Saturday September 21st Session #1 (Sprint/Hurdles), 9am Saturday October 19th Session #2 Field Events: (High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Pole Vault, Shot Put, Discus, Javelin, Hammer)
WHERE: Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium (705 33rd Ave North, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577)
WHO: Youth ages 6-18, all experience levels welcome, no experience necessary. Note: Participation in Pole Vault portion of clinic on 10/19 is limited to ages 13-18.
COST: $15/Saturday or $25 for both
WHAT TO BRING: Personal water bottle, sun screen, athletic apparel, closed toe athletic/running shoes, event specific spikes if you have them (not required), and lots of energy.
WHAT TO EXPECT: Participants will be grouped by age and/or experience level. Groups will rotate through each of the event specific areas where they will be instructed by an experienced high school, college or club coach. Instruction will focus on introducing the sport, introducing the skills required, and the opportunity to practice the skills and receive feedback. Each Saturday will begin with a group warm-up and stretch and conclude with a group talk and cool-down. Each Saturday session will conclude between 12:00-12:30pm.
